Jib Crane - A type of crane, which has a horizontal member (known as jib or boom) that supports a moveable hoist fixed to a wall or to a floor-mounted pillar is known as jib crane. The jib is an operating arm that extends horizontally from the crane. The jib on a jib crane is a tilted strut that supports a fixed pulley block. Jib cranes are a type of overhead lifting device that are often used in a smaller work area for repetitive and unique lifting tasks. A jib crane is one such type. It consists of a pillar fixed to the wall or mounted on the floor. The pillar supports a horizontal jib or boom which has a movable hoist. The hoist is used to lift or lower a load with the help of a drum, or lift-wheel, which has a chain or rope wrapped around it. The main purpose of a crane is to lift extremely heavy amounts of weight. A typical crane is equipped with a hoist rope, wire ropes or chains and sheaves, Modern day cranes are used for : Construction Materials, Bridges, Railroad Tracks, Shipping Materials / Equipment, Cars, Scrap Metal, Mobile Homes.
Mobile Floor Cranes
Through a combination of simple machines, mobile cranes are able to gain a mechanical advantage to lift heavy objects. The mast (the tall vertical part of a crane) is supported by a large, heavy base, which helps offset the weight the crane holds at higher heights. Modern cranes usually use internal combustion engines or electric motors and hydraulic systems to provide a much greater lifting capability than was previously possible, although manual cranes are still utilized where the provision of power would be uneconomic.
